The Parts Of The Violin

Posted on Sunday 11 March 2007

Traditional Violin Method or The Suzuki Method, violin lesson with any beginner (adult or kid) always starts with getting to know the parts of the violin.  I believe it’s just the same as meeting a new person, a new friend with whom you plan to spend a lot of quality time with in the future.  First, you get their name, then you assess them physically, how they look, how you feel about them/it (in the case of the violin), and eventually, you decide to get used to them - their unique quirks, habits, how best to handle them or how best to deal with them, and how to bring out the best - and even the worst in them.

With this in mind, I think I’d like to start a series of blog posts on the important parts of the violin.  These are not meant to be thoroughly, instructionally or even technically-loaded, just a simple and brief general overview on their description and their purpose/s to the overall sound production of the instrument.

Do keep posted for my next entries…
